Notional learning hours are the estimated time taken by the average student to achieve the specified learning outcomes of the training programme. It includes all learning relevant to achieve the learning outcomes, e.g., direct study, practical and project work, private study and assessment.
The credit provides a means to quantify learning outcomes achieved in notional learning hours at a given level.
- One credit is awarded for 10 notional hours of successful learning activity
- Credit is awarded for achieving the specified learning outcome.
RPL or Recognition of Prior Learning is the skills, qualifications, knowledge and experience you obtained during your lifetime.
The learning experience may have been through formal learning, e.g., college, university or accredited education bodies. You have also gained knowledge during your career, doing short courses or in-house training. You can use these skills and qualifications you already have, to earn credits for formal qualifications.
The RPL process provides an opportunity for you to identify your skills, have them assessed and formally acknowledged in a qualification form.
Delegates who are members of the South African Facilities Management Association (SAFMA) earn CPD points on presenting their certificate of attendance. The Afroteq Academy is a recognised preferred training provider with SAFMA.
A Portfolio of Evidence (POE) is a compilation of academic work and other forms of education evidence assembled to:
- Evaluate coursework quality, learning progress and academic achievement
- Determine whether the student has met the learning standards
- Help students reflect on their educational goals and progress as learners
- Create a lasting archive of academic work products, accomplishments and other documentation
The POE is assessed and moderated by registered industry-related professionals. Once the delegate is found competent, their POE is submitted to the accreditation body to upload the results on the NRF database.
The Afroteq Academy will consider offering payment plans for individuals that enrol for the Occupational Qualification: Facilities Manager programme.
